This is a special tour that can only be taken in a permitted vehicle and a permitted guide into the national park.
Snowshoeing while viewing the large group of icefalls that appear only during the winter.
Because of the harsh environment, with snow accumulating over 3 meters and the temperature can drop below 20 degrees Celsius, general visitors are not allowed to enter the park.
However, with the full cooperation of Suzaka City and Yonako Takiyama Fudoji Temple Okunoin Temple, a snowshoe tour around the Yonako Grand Icefalls and Yonako Takiyama Fudoji Temple, which became a world of snow and ice in the severe winter season, was realized.
Lunch is Buddhist vegetarian bento.

Yonako Grand Falls
Yonako Grand Falls, located in Joshinetsu National Park, is the collective name for two waterfalls that hang side by side on a cliff at the northern foot of Mt.Azumaya. These waterfalls are the object of worship and are called Fudo-daki(89m) and Gongen-daki(82m). In particular, Fudo-daki, along with Yonago Takiyama Fudoji Temple Okunoin Temple, has been a place for mountain ascetic practices, and in summer, ascetic practitioners could be seen performing “Taki-Gyo”(a ritual of asceticism)
In summer, these waterfalls roar down through the quiet valley, but in winter, they are completely freeze over and transformed into shining blue ice cliffs. These waterfalls are formed by the -20 degrees Celsius temperature and freezing north winds during the severe winter season, and in addition to the two icefalls, many other icefalls that cannot be seen in summer appear.
